Direct coding in the learning environment

With the new AI Coding Mode, CodeRoom is expanded to a particularly practical form of AI support: students can describe directly in the learning environment what they want to change, add, or improve at their code.

Instead of switching between CodeRoom and an external chat, the entire workflow remains in one environment: task assignment, editor, preview, project files, and AI support interact directly with each other.

AI coding continues working on existing code

The new mode is designed to develop existing code specifically rather than simply replacing it. Students can formulate concrete change requests, for example:

CodeRoom takes over the change directly in the current code or project. This keeps the context of the task and students can immediately try out if the adjustment works.

For individual tasks and larger projects

AI coding supports both classical CodeRoom tasks with a single editor as well as more extensive project work with multiple files.

In Compact Mode, KI-Coding is suitable for individual tasks and small code changes. In Project Mode, the AI can work specifically with selected project files, such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files or multi-part Python projects.

This is especially helpful when learners don’t start from scratch but want to gradually extend existing templates.

Tracable for teaching

A crucial part of the new approach is transparency. KI-Coding should not only produce a result, but also make the development process more visible in the classroom.

CodeRoom can store AI-assisted changes in the user code history. This allows prompts, changes, and versions to be reviewed and discussed later. For teachers, this creates a school framework where KI can be used productively without losing control over tasks, learning processes, and development steps.

From Code to Result

KI-Coding becomes particularly motivating when an idea directly turns into a working project. Combined with the share feature, learners can publish their results and pass on a runnable version.

As a result of classroom tasks, real small products, games, simulations, or web apps are created that can also be shown outside of class time.
